🌱 About Green Campus Initiative

Our college is committed to environmental sustainability and eco-friendly campus development. Various green practices have been adopted to reduce carbon footprint, conserve natural resources, and promote environmental awareness among students and staff.


1️⃣ Green Campus Committee

Status: ✅ Yes (Committee Formed)

The college has constituted a Green Campus Committee to monitor and implement environmental initiatives on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning eco-friendly activities

  • Monitoring energy and water usage

  • Conducting plantation drives

  • Promoting environmental awareness programs

  • Coordinating sustainability audits


2️⃣ Rain Water Harvesting System

Status: ✅ Yes (System Installed)

The campus has an operational Rain Water Harvesting System to conserve water and recharge groundwater levels.

Benefits:

  • Reduces water wastage

  • Recharges groundwater

  • Supports sustainable water management

  • Reduces dependency on external water supply


3️⃣ Waste Segregation Practice

 

Status: ❌ Not Implemented Yet

Currently, a structured waste segregation system is not implemented. The college plans to introduce:

  • Separate bins for dry & wet waste

  • Awareness programs on waste management

  • Plastic reduction campaigns


4️⃣ Composting Facility

Status: ❌ Not Available

The college is planning to establish a composting unit to convert organic waste into manure for campus gardening.

Future Plan:

  • Installation of compost pit/vermicomposting unit

  • Use of compost in campus gardens

  • Student participation in compost management


5️⃣ Solar Panels Installed in Campus

 
Status: No

The institution is planning to install rooftop solar panels under government renewable energy schemes.

Identification and Tagging of Plants on Campus


🌱 About the Initiative

The college is committed to biodiversity conservation and environmental awareness. Under the Campus Flora Identification Initiative, plant species available within the campus are being scientifically identified, documented, and digitally recorded for academic and awareness purposes.

This initiative supports environmental sustainability, research activities, and green campus development.


1️⃣ Flora Committee Formation

Status: ✅ Yes (Committee Formed)

The college has constituted a Flora Committee to supervise and implement the plant identification and tagging process.

Responsibilities of the Flora Committee:

  • Survey and identification of plant species

  • Scientific documentation of flora

  • Maintaining biodiversity records

  • Planning QR-based plant tagging system

  • Promoting botanical awareness among students


2️⃣ Percentage of Plants Identified

Submitted Value: 🌿 55% Plants Identified

More than half of the campus plants have been scientifically identified and documented.

Identification Includes:

  • Botanical Name

  • Common Name

  • Family

  • Medicinal / Ecological Importance

  • Native / Exotic Status

This work is being carried out with the active involvement of faculty and students, especially from the Botany Department.


3️⃣ Percentage of Plants Tagged with QR Code

Status: ❌ QR Tagging Not Implemented Yet

Currently, QR-based digital tagging of plants has not been implemented.

Future Plan:

  • Generate QR codes for each identified plant

  • Link QR codes to plant database/webpage

  • Enable students and visitors to scan and access plant information

  • Develop a digital flora catalogue
